I have a Galaxy S4 and my school has public Wi-Fi. I used to be able to download freely but I guess they blocked torrents now. The odd thing is that I can access sites like pirates bay and bit snoop all I want, but I have no download speed. I have tried some of the free VPN services, but none work for me. I have been using utorrent the most, but have tried other apps as well. Do you know a way to work around this to attain any kind of download speed? (Yes I realize that torrents SHOULD be blocked, no need to lecture about it being illegal)
I'm guessing they restricted it on their firewall so it won't allow it to connect to the torrent port. If you're able to go to settings on your torrent program try another port, it may work, but if they blocked all torrents on their firewall it won't let you.
Presumably the school provide Wi-Fi for proper school work. If you want to do other things with your Galaxy S4, do this over your own Internet service and not on the school's network.

The most you can do as suggested is use your own ISP to download what you want.
You can but that's a great way to get yourself kicked out or at best your Internet cut-off permanently.

- I have perfect Wi-Fi connection but i can do anything that requires Wi-Fi and nothing will work I've had my Samsung galaxy tab3 for about 2 months. Yesterday it wouldn't let me on the Internet, i have full signal and I've reconnected the Wi-Fi more than once. I have restarted, shutdown, and done everything else i can but it still won't work. I know its not my Internet because everything else is working fine but my galaxy, can anyone help please?
- Laptop Wi-Fi broken, can I link to Wi-Fi from tablet to PC? My Wi-Fi on my laptop is broken. I have a tablet that can get Wi-Fi, in addition to a monthly data plan. Right now, I can tether (link through a usb cord) my tablet to my PC and share the internet through the data plan. However, It has a data limit that I'm afraid of going over. Since the tablet can get Wi-Fi too, is it possible to get the Wi-Fi on the tablet and transfer that to my PC? I have a Toshica running a Windows 7. The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy 7.
- How can I make my high school cheer team next year or at least be popular when I start high school next year? I'm in the 8th grade and since kindergarten kids have called me a loser or uncool. I want to be poular and have a good high school experience. I wear glasses and my parents are so abusive becausr they won't get me contacts or an iPhone 7. I just have a Samsung galaxy s6 edge.
- If I use my home wi-fi connection on my smartphone, will that use any of my data? I'm new to the smartphone world, so please relieve me from any grief, and feel free to assume that I don't know ANY thing. I have a Galaxy S5, and had this for 2-3 months now. In a span of 7 days (recently ) i've used 5 WHOLE GB! FIVE GB! I believe around this time, I realize that I wasn't using my home connection (an accident) i'm using it again. Is this the reason why i've lost 5GB in 5 days? That and… Besides using YouTube a whole lot.

I control the WiFi in several hotels. We have installed a sophisticated router. We have a password that changes but of course it must be provided to the guests. We occasionally get “Copyright Infringement Notices” from our IP (MediaCom). Is there any sure fix to stop guest from downloading a movie?
Can't Download Torrent On Public Wifi
- Why don't you put a Good UTM (Unified Threat Management) device on the Gateway and define policy in it. Probably, you can look into Fortinet, Cyberoam (now Sophos), DELL Sonicwall, etc. However, just make it sure from the solution provider, that it can be done.
- Rajaa is correct, to prevent people from downloading you really need a sophisticated software, hardware or appliance capable to filter such things. Music website templates free download. A simple firewall from a router won't do. https://jarheavy.weebly.com/honey-1-movie-download-torrent.html.At best you need something that can perform packet inspection as Hovsep pointed out which will then allow you to block traffic not only via ports but also via the content. The problem with simple port blocking is that you need to keep e.g. port 80 and 443 open for HTTP(s), web surfing, and therefor people will still be able to download illegal content from file host and it's sheer impossible to block torrent via ports only as the protocol and applications are designed to find a way around these restrictions.Get something that can do Layer 7 filtering and block by protocol 'torrent','edonkey', 'gnutella' and all the other stuff. And you also should filter via keywords like 'torrent', 'bdrip','porn' and whatnot. You should also setup proper network monitoring and a usage policy which allows you to monitor and log activity of your guests and prohibits them from illegal actions. Maybe, make sure you can identify them e.g. a captive portal with individual logins per machine/guest.If you provide public internet don't take it lightly and INVEST for your on sake. It is your internet and you will be held responsible.
- maybe you need WiFi Hotspot Gateway for network packet inspection capabilities to block illegal downloads

when file sharing filter activated will block all Internet data packets that are identified as file sharing communications - I'd recommend you to check your Wifi Router, if it gives any option to limit download size.
If not, You may secure your network in a better way by installing a Hardware Firewall on your network. This will keep a track on the sites being accessed, allows to limit download size, and also provides you an option to block porn or any other website on your network. All the best!
